This is slightly complicated, but worth it -this amount would cost around $15 at Starbucks. To imitate 1/4 cup espresso with a manual drip coffeemaker, take 1/3 cup ground coffee (French Roast is recommended) and run 1 cup water through the machine; then run it through using the same ground again. That'll make 1/2 cup espresso (enough for two batches). Put everything into a blender. All milks work; skim is best. Use more or less sugar for desired sweetness. Amaretto, Almond, and Hazelnut are the best flavored syrups. You can also use 1/2 tablespoon of a natural thickener called Pectin for the best imitaion of the texture of Starbucks' over-priced drink.
